Asante Education: Knowledge Transmission and Training
Young Asante learned through observation, apprenticeship, and direct instruction in family and community contexts. Potential leaders received training in rhetoric, diplomacy, and military strategy. Craft apprenticeships lasted years, transmitting specialized knowledge. Exceptional individuals might be selected for court training. Griots provided historical and cultural education through storytelling. Religious education came from priests teaching spiritual traditions.
